Google Checkout Help

This section allows your customers to purchase items from your store using their Google Checkout account. If you want to allow this type of payment during checkout, please activate Google Checkout by clicking the "Activate Google Checkout" checkbox. When active, you will also need to complete the other fields as well.

SIGN UP FOR GOOGLE CHECKOUT
Before you use Google Checkout, you should signup for both a TEST and a LIVE Google Checkout "merchant" account with Google. This is done on Google's servers.

Google Checkout "Merchant" Accounts are NOT the same as a Google Checkout "user" account. You cannot use the same Google Checkout account for both the merchant account and the user account. You need different accounts.

Google allows you to test the checkout process before processing real customer transactions. This is called a "SANDBOX" account. Google assigns a different and unique merchant account for both your TEST (sandbox) account as well as your LIVE account.

During your initial testing period, use your SANDBOX (test) Google Checkout merchant account. Customer transactions will NOT be real and credit cards will not be charged. Remember, Google assigns different Merchant ID numbers and merchant keys for both your Live merchant account and your Test merchant account.

When you are ready to implement Google Checkout to process real customer transactions, then change this section of the store to use your LIVE Google Checkout Merchant Account Numbers and Settings.

SSL CERTIFICATE: GOOGLE REQUIRES that your web site is running under its own SSL certificate which can be validated to your EXACT domain name. Therefore, if your web site address is www.bobshoes.com, then your SSL certificate must be valid for https://www.bobshoes.com. Please check with your hosting provider or server administrator to insure this requirement can be met before using this feature.

PROCESSING CUSTOMER ORDERS
When a customer order comes in through Google Checkout, you must use your Google Checkout Merchant Account (on Google's servers) to process the order, charge the customer credit card, and change the order's status. The View Orders section of the store will ONLY allow you to view orders that came in through Google Checkout. You cannot change those orders from within the store. You must use your Google Merchant account to process orders that originated through Google Checkout.

SALES TAXES: if you activate Google Checkout for this store, the implementation rules for the calculation of sales taxes will change. For more information, please click here.

UNSUPPORTED STORE FEATURES: When a customer uses Google Checkout, the actual checkout occurs entirely on Google's servers. This means some of the store's more advanced features are not supported on Google Checkout.

The following store features are not available during the customer's Google Checkout:

Flat Rate Sales Tax
Flat Rate Shipping calculations
USA Only Export Control
Displaying Thank You Notes
Store Coupons
Purchase Discounts
Sending Store Confirmation Email (Google sends the confirmation email).

FREE SHIPPING ITEMS: If ALL the items in the cart are eligible for free shipping, then only a "Free Shipping" method will appear to the customer on Google Checkout. Otherwise, free shipping (when only applies to some of the cart items) will be handled as a reduction in the total weight of the order being shipped.

Activate Google Checkout?
This checkbox controls whether or not Google Checkout is active for your store. When active, the store will change the Customer's checkout procedure to allow them to complete their checkout through Google instead of through your store.

Google Checkout Test Mode
This required field controls whether your store's Google Checkout transactions are processed through the Live Google System or through the Google's "Sandbox" Test System. Select YES, to use the TEST account. Select NO to use the LIVE account.

Before you use Google Checkout, you should signup for both a TEST and a LIVE Google Checkout "merchant" account with Google.
During the testing period, use the TEST account which is also called a "Sandbox" account. Customer transactions will NOT be real and credit cards will not be charged.

Google assigns different Merchant ID numbers and keys for both your Live account and your Test account.

When you complete your testing, change this setting to NO. This will tell Google Checkout that you are now processing real customer transactions and to go ahead and charge customer credit cards.

Remember, when you change from TEST mode to LIVE mode, you will also need to change the Merchant ID and Merchant Key fields. Google assigns different ID's and Keys for your LIVE and TEST merchant accounts. Therefore, when you change from test mode to live mode, you must also change the Merchant ID and KEY fields.

Maximum Google Checkout Order Amount
This optional field is used to limit how much the customer can order when paying through Google. Leave this field blank if you do not want to enforce a limit on Google Checkout sales.

When you enter an amount in this field, the store will only allow the customer to use Google Checkout when the total amount in their shopping cart is less than or equal to the amount in this field.

Google Currency
Google checkout V2 currently only supports US Dollars. Therefore, please select the first option on the currency list.

Your Google Merchant ID*
When running Google Checkout in LIVE MODE, enter your assigned Merchant ID Number. This ID number is assigned by Google Checkout when you signup as a merchant for their service. It will be 10 or 15 digits long and is unique to your Google account. Be sure to enter the ID number EXACTLY as Google provided it to you. The ID is CASE SENSITIVE.

When running Google Checkout in TEST MODE, enter your assigned Google SANDBOX (Test) Merchant ID Number.
This ID number is assigned by Google when you signup as a TEST merchant for their service and will be 10 or 15 digits long. Be sure to enter the ID number EXACTLY as Google provided it to you. The ID is CASE SENSITIVE.

NOTE: the google live and test merchant account ID's are NOT the same. You will need a unique ID number for your test account and another unique ID number for your live account.

Your Google Merchant Key*
When running Google Checkout in LIVE MODE, enter your assigned Merchant KEY. This KEY is assigned by Google Checkout when you signup as a merchant for their service. Be sure to enter the key EXACTLY as Google provided it to you. The key is CASE SENSITIVE.

When running Google Checkout in TEST MODE, enter your assigned Google SANDBOX (Test) Merchant KEY. This key is NOT the same as the LIVE key and must be entered here when using your Google Checkout account in TEST mode. Be sure to enter the key EXACTLY as Google provided it to you. The key is CASE SENSITIVE.

GOOGLE CHECKOUT SHIPPING CALCULATIONS
Google Checkout v2 uses automatic carrier based shipping calculations. GOOGLE DOES NOT USE YOUR STORE'S SHIPPING METHODS, ZONES, OR SHIPPING CALCULATIONS.

In order for your store to use Google Checkout and have it calculate shipping on customer orders, you must activate one or more of the shipping methods presented on the page as well as complete the other shipping fields. Google Checkout calculates shipping based on the weight of the products being ordered and the distance to which the products are being shipped.

Active Google Shipping Methods*
Select the shipping methods you wish to be available to the customer during Google Checkout. If you check the "Only Show Free Shipping Option", it will deactivate all of the FedEx/UPS/USPS check boxes. At least one check box in this section must be checked.

Default Google Shipping Amounts
For each active shipping method, please enter a default shipping amount to charge if Google Checkout is unable to automatically calculate shipping charges for a customer order.

Google Checkout requires a default shipping amount for each shipping method that is active on the page (other than the "Only Show Free Shipping Option").

Google Checkout Ship FROM Address*
Google Checkout shipping calculations are based on distance from your location to the customer.

Enter your SHIP FROM location information in the fields above. All Ship From fields are required.

Google Checkout Weight Scale*
This required field tells Google what weight scale to use when calculating shipping. The only valid entry is LB for U.S. pounds. Google currently does not support the other choices in the list.

Google Carrier Pickup Type
This tells Google Checkout how the package will be transferred to the carrier. Each option affects the shipping cost calculated by the carrier.

Google Additional Shipping Fixed Charge
If you would like Google Checkout to add a fixed amount to each shipping cost it calculates and displays, enter the extra amount here.

This allows you to collect a little extra money from your customer on each shipping option displayed.

Google Callback URL
In order for Google to send order and credit card transaction results back to the store, you must tell Google how to contact the store. This is done through a CALLBACK URL (web address). This address tells Google where to find your store and how to talk to it. Without this URL, google can't tell the store what is happening with a customer's order.

To set this up on Google, log in to your Merchant Center account on Google's servers. Click on the Settings tab and then click on the Integration link in the menu on the left side of the page. Next, enter the EXACT URL shown above in the API callback URL field on Google. You need to enter the Callback URL above in both your sandbox account (test account) and your production account (live account).

Google Integration Settings
The store requires that Google's Integration Settings be configured EXACTLY as shown on the page. This is needed so Google Checkout can communicate properly with the store.

To set this up on Google, log in to your Merchant Center account on Google's servers. Click on the Settings tab and then click on the Integration link in the menu on the left side of the page. Next, scroll down the page until you find the API Callback URL and Advanced Settings section of the page. Enter the store's Callback URL and configure the other Google options as shown.
