This section is used to create up to 1,000 departments for your store.

This Page: the web page you are currently looking at shows you a list of all of the departments currently defined for your store. You are allowed to setup up to 1,000 different departments. A department must be setup in this section before you are allowed to assign categories or products to it.

Each department "record" is shown below on its own line, and the entire list of departments is shown in order by the list position you entered. If the list is empty, it means you have not defined any departments. Use the ADD NEW button to add the first one.

HIDDEN DEPARTMENTS
If you have elected to temporarily disabled (hide) a department, its name will be shown in BOLD RED. To change the active/disabled setting for a department, click the EDIT button for the department or click on the department's name in the list.

SECTION TITLES
if a department has been set to display as a Section Title only, its name will be shown in BOLD BLUE. To change a department, click the EDIT button for the department or click on the department's name in the list.

LINK TYPE SHOW IN RED
If you have elected NOT to show a department's list of sub-links, then the department's Link Type will be shown in BOLD RED. To change this setting, click the department's EDIT button and change its "Show Sub-Links" field.

CHANGING DEPARTMENT'S LIST POSITION
A department's "list position" controls the order in which departments are displayed in the store. The 4 buttons to the right of the department's position number allow you to make quick list position adjustments.

The table below describes the function performed by each button:

	Moves Department to the Very Top of the List
	Moves Department to the Very Bottom of the List

To add a new department to the list, click on the ADD NEW button. If the ADD NEW button does not appear on the page, it means you have already setup the maximum number of departments allowed (1,000).

To change an existing department, click the EDIT button shown to the right of the department's information or click on the department's name in the list. NOTE: each department listed has its own EDIT button.

To delete an existing department, click the DELETE button shown to the right of the department's information. NOTE: if you delete a department, the store will also delete any categories, sub-categories, and products assigned to this department as well!

Viewing: for certain types of departments, a VIEW button will appear next to the EDIT and DELETE buttons. Clicking on the VIEW button will allow you to display what the department will look like when it is shown to your customers. NOTE: The store will open a new browser web page to display it.

IMPORTANT: while this option will display the department's web page, some items or links on the page may not function properly if you have NOT finished building your entire store.

Thumbnail Image: if you uploaded and assigned a thumbnail image for a department, it will be shown next to the department's name. The store will automatically resize the image to display properly within the selection list. The store will NOT resize the image when it is displayed on your store pages.
