This section is used to define up to 1,000 categories for each department.

This Page: the web page you are currently looking at shows you a list of all of the categories currently defined for selected department. A category must be setup in this section before you are allowed to assign sub-categories or products to it.

Displaying Categories: to display a list of categories, choose a department using the drop down list provided and them click the SELECT DEPARTMENT button. This tells the store to display the assigned categories for the selected department.

Each category "record" for the selected department is shown on its own line, and the entire list of categories is shown in order by the list position you assigned. If the list is empty, it means you have not defined any categories for the selected department.

HIDDEN CATEGORIES
If you have elected to temporarily disabled (hide) a category, its name will be shown in BOLD RED. To change the active/disabled setting for a category, click the EDIT button for the category or click on the category's name in the list.

SECTION TITLES
if a category has been set to display as a Section Title only, its name will be shown in BOLD BLUE. To change a category, click the EDIT button for the category or click on the category's name in the list.

LINK TYPE SHOW IN RED
If you have elected NOT to show a category's list of sub-links, then the category's Link Type will be shown in BOLD RED. To change this setting, click the category's EDIT button and change its "Show Sub-Links" field.

NO SELECT DEPARTMENT BUTTON: if the store fails to display a SELECT DEPARTMENT button or a department drop down list, it means that NONE of your departments are "linked to a list of categories". Only departments that are setup to "link to a list of categories" will appear for selection.

CHANGING LIST POSITION
The 4 buttons to the right of the Category's position number allow you to make quick position adjustments. The table below describes the function performed by each button:

	Moves Category to the Very Bottom of the List

To add a new category to the list, click on the ADD NEW button. If the ADD NEW button does not appear on the page, it means you have already setup the maximum number of categories allowed for the selected department (1,000).

NOTE: When adding, be sure to switch to the correct department before you press the ADD NEW button.

To change an existing category, click the EDIT button shown to the right of the category's information or click on the category's name in the list. NOTE: each category listed has its own EDIT button.

To delete an existing category, click the DELETE button shown to the right of the category's information. NOTE: if you delete a category, the store will also delete any sub-categories and products assigned to this category as well!

Viewing: for certain types of categories, a VIEW button will appear next to the EDIT and DELETE buttons. Clicking on the VIEW button will allow you to display what the category will look like when it is shown to your customers. NOTE: The store will open a new browser web page to display it.

IMPORTANT: while this option will display the category's web page, some items or links on the page may not function properly if you have NOT finished building your entire store.

Thumbnail Image: if you uploaded and assigned a thumbnail image for a category, it will be shown next to the category's name. The store will automatically resize the image to display properly within the selection list. The store will NOT resize the image when it is displayed on your store pages.
