Change Store Preferences

This page is used to change your preferences as to how certain areas of the store operate.

CAUTION: Please be very careful when making changes to this section. Be sure to completely review the online help to make certain you understand how changing any of the preferences below will affect the operation of your store. The factory defaults are listed first.

When active, this feature automatically sends the customer a "Shipping Notification Email" when an order's status is changed to "SHIPPED". If you want to activate this feature, click the YES option in the first field shown above and then complete the rest of the fields associated with it.

Send a Copy To:
If you want to receive a copy of each Shipping Notification Email that is sent to your customers, then enter your email address in the the "Send Copy To" address. Leave this field blank if you don't want a copy sent.
Send Test Email To:

The "Send Test Email To" field is used to test the Shipping Notification Email feature. When you enter an email address in this field, the store will send a sample Shipping Notification Email to it when you click the SAVE CHANGES button at the bottom of the page. In order for this test to work, you must have at least one order in your store database.

Show Shipping Pieces:

This option allows you to control whether or not the store displays the number of shipping "pieces" (items) as part of the customer's order. This field is required.

Show Shipping Weight:

This option allows you to control whether or not the store displays the total shipping weight as part of the customer's order. This field is required.

This option allows you to control whether or not the store footnotes items in customer's order that are eligible for free shipping. This field is required.

Thumbnails / Images

When the store displays a list of products to a customer, it normally displays small images (called thumbnails) for each product. The store can be configured to automatically adjust all thumbnails to be the same size or use each image's natural size. When auto-resize is active, the store will use the pixel width and height values specified above (40 is recommended for both).

This option allows you to control whether thumbnails link to a generic page that shows each product's full size image, or links to each product's detail information page. This field is required.

This controls whether or not the store displays the replacement "No Photo Available" image when a customer displays a product page that does not have a photo associated with it.
Credit Cards

This controls whether or not "dashes" are displayed within credit card numbers when viewing new and processed orders from the Main Menu.
Credit Card Checksum:

This controls whether or not the store performs checksum validation on credit card numbers entered by customers during checkout. This setting should always be YES unless you are accepting foreign credit cards (UK Switch Cards) that dont use the standard Visa, Master Card, or American Express numbering format.
Product Controls

This controls whether or not the store "strikes out" a product's "normal price" when it's currently on sale.

This controls whether or not the store displays the amount of savings the customer will receive when displaying a product that is currently on sale.

This option allows you to control whether the VIEW CART page is displayed or the PRODUCT DETAIL INFORMATION page is shown to the customer after a product's ADD TO CART button is pressed. This field is required.

This option allows you to control whether the VIEW CART page displays an additional field whereby the customer may add products to their cart by product item number (sku number). The second field contains the HTML used to create this form. Please use caution when making changes to the HTML.

This option allows you to control whether or not the store includes the product's name in the hyperlinks to your products. For some search engines, activating this feature may help with search engine indexing of the products in your store.

This field controls whether or not the store automatically replaces the default page titles (e.g. the store's name) with the name of the department, category, sub-category, or product currently being displayed to the customer. The default setting is "NO".

This option allows you to control whether or not the VIEW CART page displays an email form to allow the customer to email a list of their shopping cart contents to a friend. The second field contains the HTML used to create this form. Please use caution when making changes to the HTML.

NOTE: Store managers automatically receive an emailed copy of customer sent shopping lists.

This option allows you to control whether or not a special clickable "Email a Friend" icon appears on each product page in the store. This icon will take the visitor to a special store page where the customer may send information about the product to a friend.

Search Controls
Default Search Type:

This field controls what the default search type is when the search words do NOT have any quotes around them. For most stores, it's recommended you set the default search type to be an "AND Search".

NOTE: please read the online help for more information regarding how to use this feature properly.

Search Meta Tags:

This field controls whether or not the store includes each product's meta tags when performing a search. Most stores will want to include meta tags in product searches and therefore, the default setting for this flag is "Yes".

If your meta tags are designed in such a way that they are causing the store to generate invalid search results, then you need to set this flag to "No".

This option allows you to control the size of the various dashed and dotted line separators used in the store. All entries are required and must contain a value from 1 through 200.

This field controls whether or not the store automatically creates a "static" copy of the store's Welcome Page in a file called index.html. The automatic copy will be done each time the store displays the Welcome Page via the Qstote.cgi program.

The default setting is "NO" and is recommended for most stores.

This controls whether or not the store displays a counter at the bottom of the store's pages and what text to show in front of it. The counter will display the total number of times the page has been visited (shown).

This controls whether or not the store logs customer web page display activity into a "log file".

HTML Email Word Wrap:

This controls whether or not the store performs automatic line length adjustments to effectively word wrap all outgoing HTML email. Normally this field is left blank to disable (turn off) this feature.

If you see strange exclamation points in HTML email sent by the store, then you need to turn this feature ON. To do so, enter a whole number that represents the maximum allowed line length for the text contained in the email. The value should be between 75 (typical) and 500 (max) which tells the store where to word wrap each line.
